Senior Spotlight: Josh Thatcher

By Mikayla Henson

Josh Thatcher, a senior at Centennial, has 6 academic letters, plays 3 different sports, and has 6 varsity letters! Also, is taking 2 college classes on top of everything else! What a busy guy!

Right now this is Thatcher’s 3rd year on varsity football. CHSAA decided to let the boys play this fall, and Thatcher is unhappy about it.

“Honestly, I am not excited to play football in the fall. I lost 4 of my senior games because of this,” stated Thatcher.

Not to mention that the Bell game will be very different this year with a combination of both COVID and the boys playing in the fall.

“The only people who can go to the Bell Game are parents and maybe some senior students. It just isn’t the same.”

Although the season may look different, Thatcher has some positives too! “Even with all of that, football has been really good so far, the team is really coming together, but there are still improvements that need to be made in the next 2 weeks,” stated Thatcher.

Their first game will be on October 9th against Canon City, at Dutch Clark, at 7 P.M..

After football, Thatcher will move on into basketball season and then baseball season, he then will have earned a total of 8 varsity letters in his high school career.

Also, Thatcher will earn a total of 8 academic letters by the end of this school year.

Thatcher’s plan is to go to college, hopefully on a football or baseball scholarship. He does not know where he wants to go as of right now.
