Many party games have been released over the years, with several of them turning into game series.
More and more minigames or game ideas have come around over time, so there have been more and more games to make. Some games even use classic board or card games and turn them into a creative enjoyable party game digitally.
With the pandemic, most people have turned over to digital versions of their favorite games in order to play the game with their friends.
If you are not sure what game to buy, here’s a list of the best party games to play.
Among Us
If you have ever played the game Mafia at a gathering, then you will most likely like this game. In Among Us, there are two different roles that are randomly assigned to you; The Crewmate and The Imposter. As a Crewmate, your goal is to complete all of your tasks while finding out who the Imposters are. As an Imposter, you are supposed to hunt down the Crewmates without getting caught in order to stop them from completing their tasks. The game has 3 different maps so far, with more being created. With the community’s implementation of mods or different settings, there can be new game modes, roles, or other changes to the game.
The game is available on PC, Mobile, and the Nintendo Switch. It is free on phones and other mobile devices, $5 on Steam for computers, and $5 for the Nintendo Switch version (which can be purchased both digitally and physically).
The Jackbox Party Pack Series
The variety of games in this party game series is astounding. There are new rules added to classics like Pictionary and Would You Rather, as well as several new games being created over time. Most of the game packs are made up of 5 totally different games, with the topics being a drawing game, a trivia game, a fill-in-the-blanks game, and two games that are randomly decided. Currently there are 7 party packs to choose from.
The packs are available on PC, but only one person needs to own the game for the entire group to play on their own devices, including mobile devices. The packs vary between $25 and $30 usually, and can be bought on Steam.
Tabletop Simulator
Tabletop Simulator is what the title suggests, a simulation for tabletop games. Both the community and developers are able to recreate their favorite games in order to play it with people around the world. Card games, as well as other genres, are able to be played digitally with this game. It is a very useful and enjoyable tool and game for people playing games online.
This is another PC game to play with friends, at a Steam price of $20.
Mario Party
The Mario Party series has been around for a while, first released in 1998 by Nintendo. Over the years, more games have been introduced, with new maps, characters, and minigames to play. On most maps, the goal is to have the most Stars by the time anyone reaches the end of the board. Along the way, minigames are played for coins to purchase the Stars. These minigames could be a variety of styles, including free-for-all, duos, and three versus one games. The series is enjoyable and highly recommended.
The most recent version, Super Mario Party, is $60 at both the Nintendo EShop and at stores like Gamestop.
Monopoly
The classic game of buying properties and paying rent has had digital adaptations over time, and recently increased in popularity. Since people have to be online during the pandemic, they have turned to the digital version of the board game in order to play it with friends. Since the games are cross-platform, if you have a console or computer you’ll be able to play it with friends who have any system as well. The game has new modes that can be played, and people in the community still come up with new versions of the game.
Monopoly Plus, the reimagined version of the classic board game, is $6 on Steam. The Monopoly game on Nintendo Switch costs $40 physically and digitally, so it is recommended to buy the game on PC if possible.
